Wrocław University of Science and Technology launches “OpenYourMine” project

Students from the faculty of geoengineering, mining and geology of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology are observing the functioning of the Iberian mine pyrite belt. The university organized trips combined with lectures and project work as part of the “OpenYourMine” initiative.

The first group returned from Portugal and Cape Verde at the end of 2019. Students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the French Université Grenoble Alpes and the Portuguese NOVA University Lisbon viewed the mines and processing plants of the Iberian pyrite belt. Following group will travel to the Iberian Peninsula this year. In 2021, students from Portugal, France and Poland will research the extraction of mineral resources in Poland.

The “OpenYourMine” project is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. The leader is Université Grenoble Alpes and the Wroclaw university, University of Lisbon, KGHM Cuprum Research and Development Center are its participants.
