The Senate of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków held an opened session to celebrate the university’s research status. The meeting with staff and students was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.

AGH was among the 10 winners of the first program ‘Initiative of Excellence – Research University’ (IDUB), taking the third place in this ranking. This program is one of the most important initiatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education within the Constitution for Science. The aim of the program was to select and support universities that will strive to achieve the status of a research university, and will be able to successfully compete with the best academic centers in Europe and in the world.

-You have the right to feel pride and satisfaction. AGH University of Science and Technology submitted an IDUB application that was highly rated by experts. AGH in Krakow is now facing a great challenge. I am convinced that the academic community of AGH will manage to meet the goals it has set for itself – said Deputy Prime Minister Gowin.
