Professor Iwona Sagan from the University of Gdańsk was appointed to the program team for the preparation of the 11th World Urban Forum in Katowice in 2022 by decision of the director of the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.

The team consists of 25 people, and its members are representatives of government administration, the city of Katowice, the regional government of the Śląskie Voivodeship, social organizations, corporations and local government organizations, research institutes and universities. The work is carried out in close cooperation with UN-Habitat – a forum of the United Nations agency working for sustainable urban development.

Over twenty thousand visitors have participated in previous Forums. This year’s event will take place in February in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), under the slogan “Cities of opportunity. Combining culture and innovation.”
