At the end of March the Łódź Institute of Medical Biology has launched a new laboratory, which will deal with testing for SARS-CoV-2. The facility was equipped by the Institute of Medical Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

Scientists from the Polish Academy of Sciences also helped develop diagnostic and safety procedures. In addition, 10 researchers of the Polish Academy of Sciences perform tests for SARS-CoV-2.

The laboratory was created at the Clinical and Didactic Center of the Medical University in Łódź. Its experienced team examines samples from patients suspected of having SARS-CoV-2 infection. They perform 200 coronavirus tests daily. Ultimately, it will perform 400 such tests per day.
