Researchers of the Gdańsk University of Technology investigating memory mechanisms

06.04.2020

Dr Michał Kucewicz and his team from the Laboratory of Brain and Mind Electrophysiology at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer Science of the Gdańsk University of Technology is a co-implementer of the project “Neurophysiological mapping and stimulation of the human brain to improve memory”.

Neuroscientists, physicists, biomedical engineers and doctors are investigating memory mechanisms and the possibilities of electrical stimulation of its disorders. Scientists are answering the questions: what is memory, where is it located in the brain and how can it be effectively treated in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other diseases.

In their work, researchers are using the latest technologies to measure and stimulate electrical brain waves. The project combines technologies for tracking eye pupil movements with technologies for recording neural activity in order to direct electrical brain stimulation during memory tests.
