Scientists from the Center of Advanced Technologies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań are working on creating the necessary components of an immunotest for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics.
The Center of Advanced Technologies together with the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Poznań University took actions to produce test components developed by Prof. Florian Krammer, the author of the first, non-commercial test to detect the patient’s immune response against SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Test was developed by the team of Prof. Krammer from the Icahn School of Medicine at Moun Sinai in New York and is based on two viral proteins that bind specifically to the appropriate antibodies present in the patient’s blood. It is a sensitive and specific tool that allows to examine a huge number of samples in a relatively short time.
