New rector appointed at Warsaw School of Economics

Dr Piotr Wachowiak was elected the rector of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) in Warsaw for the years 2020–2024. In September he will replace Prof. Marek Rocki, who headed the most prestigious Polish university of economics for three terms.

The new rector was elected on April 15 in electronic voting. Rector-elect in this term worked as vice rector for science and management at SGH and managed the SGH Institute of Management. He is a member of the Organization and Management Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He graduated from the Department of Internal Trade at the Main School of Planning and Statistics (SGPiS) in the field of organization and management. For 28 years he achieved business practice – he worked in managerial positions, was deputy director of the Warsaw Żoliborz District Board and member of the District Board and Chancellor of the Warsaw School of Economics.

He is also a Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Council of the President of the Republic of Poland and a member of the jury of the Teraz Polska Foundation.
