University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz developing a ventilator

The University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz initiated the development of a simple respirator design. Its scientists, entrepreneurs and medical experts, scholars of the faculty of mechanical engineering as well as employees of CIMAT and MEDSEVEN companies were appointed into the consortium.

The ventilator will allow adequate oxygenation of the lungs of a patient infected with coronavirus. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education became interested in the project and asked the rector of the University of Bydgoszcz to urgently prepare the construction of simple ventilation devices that can be manufactured in Polish factories.

The works are carried out under the supervision of Dr anaesthesiologist Robert Włodarski, deputy commander of the Military Clinical Hospital in Bydgoszcz. Currently, the projecy participants are collecting subassemblies for prototype construction. The university has announced the rapid start of tests of the respirator prototype to provide its documentation in the shortest possible time.
