New rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn

Professor Jerzy Przyborowski, current Vice-Rector for Education and Students, was elected rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn in the 2020-2024 term.

Dr Jerzy Przyborowski, was born in 1964 in Łasin (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship). He is a graduate of the University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn (on the basis of which UWM was founded). In 1992 he obtained a doctoral title, and in 2004 he became an associated professor.

Since 1992, he has been employed at the Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Production at the Faculty of Environmental Management and Agriculture of the University of Warmia and Mazury, initially as an assistant, then as an adjunct lecturer and now as an associate professor. He was the head of the Inter-Cathedral Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology at the Faculty of Environmental Management and Agriculture. He conducts research in the field of biotechnology of crop plants (molecular genetics and plant cultures in vitro) and plant breeding.
