New rector of the University of Warsaw

Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, the current dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw (UW), will be the rector of the University of Warsaw for the next four years. He will replace Prof. Marcin Pałys, who has been managing the university since 2012.

Professor Nowak graduated from the SGPiS (currently Warsaw School of Economics) as well as he studied economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign. He is a graduate of banking, finance and capital markets at the University of Exeter.

In 1991 he was granted PhD title, and in 1995 he got a postdoctoral title based on scientific achievements and a dissertation on finance and banking. In 2002 he became a professor.

He was the director of the European Center of the University of Warsaw. He also managed the Department of International Economic Relations and the Department of National Economy at the Faculty of Management. Professor Nowak specializes in international economic relations, banking, risk management on financial and the capital markets.
In the years 2012–2016 he was the Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw for research and cooperation.
