Professor Wiesław Roth from the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow received the Alex F. Cronstedt 2020 award from the Federation of European Zeolite Societies. Jirí Cejka from the Charles University in Prague was also awarded with him.
Researchers have been awarded for their important contribution to the basic aspects of the synthesis and understanding of two-dimensional zeolites and their practical use through modifications and manipulations using new zeolites and complex structures.
The prize is awarded to a person or group working in Europe for contributions to science and technology related to zeolites, mesoporous materials, MOF (Metal Organic Frameworks) or other porous materials with significant scientific impact during the six years preceding the date of nomination. Its patron is the Swedish mineralogist Axel F. Cronstedt (1722-1765), who first described the characteristic properties of zeolites and introduced the term “zeolite”.
Professor Wiesław Roth has been a research fellow of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University since 2012. Earlier, he worked for 21 years at Mobil R&D center in Paulsboro, New Jersey and at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering in Clinton.
