Professor Magdalena Król joins the final of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2020

Professor Magdalena Król from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw was among the 21 finalists of the European competition for women – innovators. EU Prize for Women Innovators is awarded to female innovators since 2011 by the European Commission for establishing a start-up or own company.

This year, 21 innovators reached the finals. Thirteen of them are nominated for the main EU Prize for Women Innovators, and eight for the title of Rising Innovator (a distinction for enterprising women under 35 years). The winner receives a cash prize of 100,000 euros in the main categories (three such prizes are awarded) and 50,000 Euro in the Rising Innovator category. Professor Magdalena Król was among the 13 finalists nominated for the main prize.

The Polish researcher has been recognized as the founder of the Cellis start-up. This biotechnology company is developing a cell-based technology that can be used in cancer therapy and diagnosis in the future.
