Polish photographer wins the Wiki Science Competition

20.07.2020

The Wikimedia Polska Association announced that Marek Miś won one of the categories of the international Wiki Science Competition by taking the best microscopic photo showing the breeding daphnia.

The purpose of the Wiki Science Competition is “to collect photos documenting the world of science: images showing research objects and results, scientists at work or research equipment”. Every year, thousands of photos posted on Wikipedia under free licenses promoting the expansion and sharing of scientific knowledge take part in the competition.

-The work is focused on all aspects of good scientific photography: it is technically correct and clearly shows the registered object. At the same time, it is kept in beautiful colors and also it presents a unique moment: the birth of young individuals – which fits perfectly into the concept of the “decisive moment” of photography – says the jury’s justification.
