Scientist of the University of Opole appointed to the State Council for Nature Conservation

Prof. Arkadiusz Nowak, a lecturer of the Faculty of Nature and Technology of the University of Opole, has been appointed to the State Council for Nature Conservation – a consultative and advisory body in the field of nature protection operating at the Ministry of Environment.

The Council consists of 29 members appointed from among the representatives of science, practice and ecological organizations acting for the protection of nature. Its tasks include committees of national parks, Natura 2000 reserves and areas, landscape and inanimate nature, animals, plants, fungi, water and wetlands, CITES, information and nature education.

The Council assesses the state of nature protection in Poland, gives opinions on draft of the legal acts and new protected areas, presents conclusions in matters related to nature protection and popularizes nature protection. It is a member of the World Union for Nature Conservation and one of the oldest Polish advisory bodies enjoying prestige and international recognition.
