Dr Wojciech Pisula and Dr Eng. Tomasz Marszałek from the Lodz University of Technology are authors of the article published in the prestigious scientific journal in the field of materials science, Nature Materials. The paper presents the results of research on modeling the structure of layers in ultra-thin semiconductor materials.
It is anticipated that these materials could be used to build organic transistors (which are the basic elements of the construction of organic electronic circuits), which are slowly beginning to reach values comparable to traditional silicon-based transistors.
Potential applications of the new, well-defined semiconductor layers also include flexible electronics, photovoltaic cells and high-quality color thin-film displays.
