Students from the “Robocik” Science Club operating at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology have developed a new underwater robot “Blue Nemo”. It is packed with electronics, it has two grippers and is able to submerge to a depth of up to 100 meters.
Young constructors from Wrocław University of Science and Technology have been involved in the engineering of autonomous underwater robots since 2016. Two years later, they took part in the prestigious RoboSub competition in California with the ROV 3.0 boat, where they reached the semi-finals, and in 2019 they took a place just behind the top ten.
The new construction was submitted to this year’s competition. It is smaller than the previous ones. The smaller fuselage made it necessary to use miniaturized electronic components, and the entire structure was additionally stiffened by the use of aluminum tubes. The boat is also equipped with an additional sonar and a gripper mounted at the rear, which is able to pick up individual objects from the bottom.
