The scientists of the Center of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw (UW), led by Dr Krzysztof Kazimierczuk have created an innovative method of significant accelerating the measurements of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). As a result, analyzes that have so far taken several days will be possible to perform in a few hours.
NMR is used not only for medical diagnostics. As a measurement technique it allows for extremely accurate insight into the structure of molecules and the course of biochemical processes and it can support the development of new drugs or the optimization of many chemical industrial processes.
These groundbreaking results, obtained under the FIRST TEAM grant of the Foundation for Polish Science, were published in the renowned journal “Angewandte Chemie”.
The results of experiments conducted by the scientists of the University of Warsaw can be used in many ways, including discovering new drugs. The new method allows for obtaining accurate data and extensive information on even very weak molecular interactions.
