The field part of the research under the PolSenior 2 project has completed. It is the largest nationwide study of the health of senior Poles, including health-related quality of life. The project is carried out by doctors and scientists of the Medical University of Gdańsk in cooperation with experts from six universities and institutes as well as a national consultant for geriatrics.
PolSenior2 is a nationwide study carried out as part of the National Health Program for 2016-2020 funded by the Ministry of Health. As part of the program, researchers examined a representative by age, sex and place of residence group of 6,000 Poles, aged 60 and more.
The methodology was based on questionnaire studies, analysis of many factors, simple fitness tests and measurements of parameters important for health, including blood pressure and handshake strength. The scales and tests included in the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment were also an important element of the study.
