The Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum is implementing the FAIRVASC project, aimed to create a pan-European IT infrastructure enabling the construction of interoperable databases on vasculitis, a group of dangerous rare diseases.

The project is financed by the European Joint Program on Rare Diseases, through the National Center for Research and Development. Its total budget is EUR 2.3 million.

The Jagiellonian University emphasizes, that the main task of the FAIRVASC project is to unify the information contained in national registers using the semantic web technology, in order to enable their use for extensive scientific research on the characteristics, natural course, health risks and optimal, personalized treatment methods.

The project is carried out under the European Vasculitis Society and the RITA European Reference Network and scientists from Italy, Ireland, Sweden, France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. The Polish part of the work is headed by Prof. Jacek Musiał, the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
