Scientists of the University of Wrocław received over PLN 17 million for scientific research as part of the Opus and Preludium competitions from the National Science Center.
The jury has awarded 29 projects in the fields of law, biotechnology, psychology, sociology, physics, chemistry, astronomy, Jewish studies, history, mathematics and computer science. The biggest prize – over PLN 2.5 million – was received by the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy and the Faculty of Biotechnology. Almost 2.3 million will be achieved by the department of Historical and Natural Sciences, and over 2 million by the Department of Chemistry.
The projects of researchers of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics gained over PLN 1.86 million, and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management – nearly PLN 1.7 million. Researchers of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science have gained over 240,000. PLN, while the philological faculty over 90 thousand.
Thanks to the grants, scientists will study artificial intelligence, democracy during a pandemic, black holes, post-pandemic crisis and luminescence thermometry, proteins and other topics.
