The Political Movements Department of the Faculty of Political Science at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin is organizing a conference “Separatist movements in the modern world” on 9 May. The aim of the conference is to systematize and evaluate the experiences associated with separatist movements and to indicate potential directions of their development, as well as the opportunities and threats created by them – informs the Lublin university.
During the conference, participants will be able to listen to the lecture of Professor Grzegorz Piwnicki from the University of Gdańsk presenting the separatist and disintegrating movements of the turn of the 20th and 21st century in Europe. Dr Roman Szul from the University of Warsaw will hold a lecture about the structure and dynamics of ethno-territorial identity and Dr Wojciech Nowiak from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań will present “Separation in the Nordic way.”
In addition, panel discussions are planned: Separatism – problems and challenges, Separatisms in the world, Separatism in Western European countries, Separatism in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Separatism in the countries of Central Europe.
