University of Economics in Wrocław to realize a project under the Horizon 2020 program

14.01.2021

An international consortium including the University of Economics in Wroclaw will implement the project “Energy citizenship and energy communities for the transition to clean energy (EC2)”. Researchers have obtained almost EUR 3 million in funding under the Horizon 2020 program.

The EC 2 project will be implemented in cooperation with 14 partners from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain – including the universities of Graz, Leipzig and Groningen. It is also attended by a long-term partner of the Wrocław university – Wrocław Południe Housing Cooperative and the Prusice Commune.

The overall aim of the project is to study the growing role of energy citizenship and energy communities in the energy transition. The decentralization of energy production and the digital revolution are key drivers of economic change, and energy citizenship means active involvement and empowerment of citizens in the energy sector.
