Dr Michał Skóra, Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk received the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship for the implementation of a 24-month postdoctoral fellowship under the supervision of Dr J Ivan Jones at Queen Mary University of London.
Thanks to the received co-financing in the amount of 225 thousand euro scientist will be able to study the impact of the presence of the invasive Pacific salmon – gorbush – on native species of salmonids in the North Atlantic and its rivers.
– The start of my postdoctoral internship in London is planned for May 2021, and its important element will be a 6-month visit to the Center for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, where under the supervision of Prof. Gordon H. Copp and Dr Bryony Townhill, I will have the opportunity to check the impact of climate change on the future distribution of this species of salmon in ocean waters – says Dr Michał Skóra.
