The University of Bialystok (UB) is beginning the procedure of choosing the university patron. This year, the university will celebrate its 25th anniversary and according to Prof. Robert Ciborowski, rector of the University of Bialystok, it is a good time for the university to gain a patron who will emphasize the prestige and increase the recognition of the university. 

In October this year, the largest university in the Podlaskie Voivodeship will start its 25th anniversary of operation. The university authorities see it as an opportunity to summarize the activities and reflect on the future of the University.

-Universities are durable, centuries-old institutions. Our university is de facto at the beginning of this road. In my opinion, it is worth building its identity and tradition on a foundation strengthened by the charisma, values ​​and achievements of its patron – claims the Rector of the University of Bialystok and adds that in the course of the discussion at the March session, the Senate of the university made a decision to accept for the final choice four eminent candidates including Ludwik Zamenhof, Juliusz Słowacki, King Sigismund August and Ryszard Kaczorowski.

The decision on this matter will be made by the UB Senate before the summer holidays. Earlier, on May 20, the university will invite all to a debate on this issue.
