Scientists from the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, in cooperation with Edurewolucje, will carry out the project “Development of a functional hand exoskeleton for active training and rehabilitation”. They received over PLN 2.3 million for research from the National Center for Research and Development.
The first part of the project includes the construction of a mechanical rehabilitation robot (exohand), and the second part includes developing specialized software to adapt the type of work / support and strength to the patient’s current needs and rehabilitation program, with machine learning allowing the robot to adapt to the current changes in the patient’s health.
This will allow for the creation of an automated rehabilitation model supporting patients, their families and physiotherapists, including self-rehabilitation at home, and increasing accessibility, reducing costs and improving the effectiveness of daily arduous rehabilitation in the event of a deficit in the functioning of the upper limb.
