Representatives of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), 15 universities and the Ministry of Climate and Environment signed a letter of intent, which provides for their joint actions to counteract drought in Poland.
This cooperation will involve the exchange of knowledge and experience as well as the use of the scientific and didactic potential of scientific communities.
The Minister of Climate and the Environment, Michał Kurtyka, noted that effective prevention of drought can only take place through cooperation with scientists and the use of solutions modelled on nature.
-Let’s solve the problem of drought together with other problems of water management – said Prof. Paweł Rowiński, vice president of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The problem of drought-related to the environment and climate is a priority at the Polish Academy of Sciences. More than 20 institutes are performing tasks related to water and climate – added the vice president of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
