University of Humanities and Life Sciences in Częstochowa has joined the Magna Charta Universitatum 2020. It is the 28th Polish university that signed the document.
The university joined the honorable group of over 900 universities from 88 countries around the world, identifying themselves with the principles and ideas proclaimed by Magna Charta Universitatum including university autonomy, independence of research and education from all political influences and economic conditions, and rejection of intolerance.
Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 is an updated version of the document originally signed by 388 university rectors from around the world on the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna. It contains the principles of academic freedom and university autonomy as guidelines for the good governance and self-determination of universities in the future. It emphasizes the strengthening of the role of universities in efforts to protect the planet, promote health, quality of life and knowledge around the world.
