21.05.2018

The Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Research, the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow are organizing the 5th Copernicus scientific and cultural festival on May 22-27. This year’s festival will be devoted to the concept of the incident.

It will be analyzed by the participants from mathematical and physical, biological, psychological, philosophical and theological perspectives.
– From the very beginning, our idea was to make a festival about science different from other such events. Its guiding idea is “learning is an integral and perhaps even the most important part of culture” – says Prof. Bartosz Brożek, head of the Center for Copernicus of Interdisciplinary Studies and vice-dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University.

The program of the festival includes: “Lectures of the stars”, “Debates”, “Breakfasts of the masters”, “Inventio: art of machines” and “Perceptio” with participation of Robert H. Frank, “New York Times” journalist, Daniel Gilbert, psychologist at Harvard University, astronomer Jean-Pierre Lasota and Adam Zagajewski, Olga Tokarczuk, Prof. Michał Heller and Henryk Sawka.
