The first electric road motorcycle developed by Polish students is ready to compete in the Moto Student competition at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragon track in Alcaniz, Spain. LEM Photon is the joint work of the members of the Scientific Club for Vehicles and Mobile Robots of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. It accelerates to 195 km / h.
The motorcycle is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 42 kW. It is also powered by a fully programmable inverter enabling changing the mechanical characteristics of the drive, introducing power and maximum speed limits, and changing the mode from torque control to speed control.
Students also designed the motorcycle’s carbon fiber shell from scratch, and the trellis frame was made of three types of high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel. Its special geometry and sub-frames guarantee adequate stiffness and strength of the structure.
