The Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools, the Main Council of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Main Council of Research Institutes, the Council of Higher Education and Science of the Polish Teachers’ Union and the National Science Section of NSZZ “Solidarity” issued a joint appeal regarding the systemic increase in financing higher education and science from the state budget.
Science and higher education, which are the most pro-development areas of socio-economic life in the contemporary world, have not been sufficiently beneficiaries of the systemic transformation and profound economic transformations in Poland after 1989 – emphasize the authors of the document. At the same time, they argue that it is in the interest of the Polish society and state to significantly increase expenditure on higher education and science.
They believe that the time has come to decide on a significant increase in financial outlays for higher education and science from the state budget, including an increase in the salaries of employees of universities and scientific institutions. It is time to create conditions for the young generation of scientists that would enable them to pursue their careers and life aspirations – for the benefit of society.
