Students of the Faculty of Geography and Geology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, for the sixth time, will visit distant corners of the world as part of the GEOpraktyki research project. This year’s expedition will be held under the slogan “GEOpractices VI Tanzania – taming the savannahs of Tanzania”.

Geopractics is an interdisciplinary, multiannual undertaking of students who combine curiosity of the world with research interests. This year, their target is the United Republic of Tanzania – a country in East Africa created from the merger of the former British colonies – Tanganyika and British Zanzibar.

The scientific issues of this year’s expedition include: assessment of biometeorological conditions in a humid and dry subequatorial climate; land cover in the light of the Sentinel mission images, depicting changes in the land cover of the Serengeti National Park and the rift lake settlement (Tanganyika) against the development of the eastern branch of the East African Rift.
