Twenty years ago, the University of Silesia launched the program Interfaculty Individual Studies in the Humanities. The Katowice University was the second in Poland that proposed a new study model with free access to the offer of many faculties and interdisciplinary programs expanding the basic direction of related disciplines.
A year later, students were able to continue education within the framework of Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and from 2014 as part of Individual Inter-faculty Studies. Such studies were selected by 913 students who defended 718 diploma theses. They were granted 205 scholarships from the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
Among the graduates of inter-territorial studies at the Silesian University there are Szczepan Twardoch – a popular contemporary writer, Aleksandra Dzik – mountaineer and mountain guide, and Dr Aleksandra Sarna – renowned media psychologist.
