Students of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań to launch another scientific expedition

16.08.2021

Members of the Tourism and Recreation Section of the Geographers’ Student Science Club at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań will fly to Iceland, where they will conduct the research project “Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the problem of overtourism in Iceland”.

Over 10 years of experience in Iceland have been experiencing too many tourists, which contributes to the deterioration of the quality of life of the local community and leads to the degradation of natural resources and landscape values. Students will investigate the extent to the pandemic influence on the problem of overtourism and the choice of places to visit, and will also check the consequences for the local tourism industry.

Students will also conduct an analysis and assessment of sustainable tourism, examine the impact of selected film productions on the attractiveness of places in them and an alternative provision of hotel services on the example of Iceland. They will also analyze the verifiability of the weather forecast for more important tourist points.
