The team of Prof. Maciej Paszyński from the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow is conducting computer simulations of the propagation of COVID-19 pathogens during coughing.
The method proposed by the AGH team, working together with scientists from the University of Texas in Austin in the USA, consists in accurate computer simulations and graph processing to model various phenomena, including social behavior.
With the help of the mathematician Prof. Ignacio Mugi from the Pontifical University of Valparaiso in Chile, scientists have developed a computer model that allows them to study the importance of using the mask in the context of the spread of pathogens during coughing – explains Prof. Paszyński from AGH. The simulations clearly show how important is wearing a mask in a pandemic especially by infected people, – adds the scientist.
