Strengthening the Polish national identity and supporting the Polish community and Poles abroad in teaching the Polish language and culture are the main goals of the cooperation between the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw and the Polish University Abroad (PUNO) in London.
UKSW Rector, Fr. Prof. Ryszard Czekalski hosted Prof. Tomasz Kaźmierski from PUNO.
-Last year, we focused on the wider cooperation with the Polish community abroad. Today, on the occasion of this meeting, we want to put this cooperation into an institutional framework – stated the rector of the UKSW.
The Polish University Abroad in London dates back to the traditions of 1939, when the Polish University Abroad was established in Paris. After the capture of the French capital by the Germans, the university was moved to London. The institution was established to ensure the continuity of Polish higher education and science during the German occupation.
