University of Gdańsk to cooperate with the Central Office of Measures

The University of Gdańsk will cooperate with the Central Office of Measures. The agreement, allowing close scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions, was signed by the rector of the university, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski and the president of the Central Office of Measures Prof. Jacek Semaniak.

The most important assumptions include initiating and conducting joint scientific research and research and development work in areas of mutual interest, practical use of knowledge and technologies in scientific and applied metrology for the socio-economic development, and the transfer of knowledge by co-organizing training, courses and scientific conferences in especially in metrology.

The Central Office of Measures is an institution with over a hundred years of tradition, established in 1919. One of its first tasks was to standardize the system of measures in the post-partition Poland, because Prussia, Austria-Hungary and Russia used different systems.
