The amendment to the budget act for 2021 passed by the Sejm includes an increase in expenditure in the “higher education and science” budget part by the amount of PLN 1 billion 2 million 767 thousand PLN. The minister of education and science, Przemysław Czarnek, announced that the additional one billion PLN for science and higher education will be divided according to an algorithm and will be received by all universities.   

-All universities will receive these funds. We have prepared an algorithm for allocating these funds, so it more or less corresponds to the size of the university, but also adds something more to smaller universities that need proportionally more funds – said minister Czarnek.

Funds will reach universities probably in November this year. They will be earmarked for investments in research and teaching infrastructure.

According to the justification of the amendment to the budget act, additional money will be also allocated to institutes operating within the Łukasiewicz Research Network.
