The Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw, together with the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs, will create a model for mitigating the effects of a pandemic among people aged 60+. The Ministry of Education and Science allocated PLN 8 million for this purpose.
Fr. Prof. Ryszard Czekalski, rector of UKSW emphasized, that the project is particularly important for the current social and scientific policy. The development and implementation of a pilot model of supporting seniors 60+ is an expression of our concern for Polish society, strongly affected by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic – he added.
As part of the project “Mitigating the effects of a pandemic among high-risk groups – people 60+”, the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UKSW at the Department of Gerontology and Social Policy will launch a Reference Research Center. Its task will be to analyze the latest literature on the impact of the pandemic on the situation of seniors, as well as to develop a socio-economic diagnosis of the situation of elderly people.
