On November 17, 2021, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Water Management Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) will hold an online conference within the series “Large Rivers”, devoted to the economic and social importance of large rivers in Poland.
During the meeting, speakers will talk about the importance of large rivers and the challenges facing water management.
The presentations and topics will include: Economics of inland navigation in Poland – Prof. Tomasz Żylicz (University of Warsaw); Polish hydropower for the country’s energy transformation and counteracting the effects of climate change – Dr Janusz Steller (The Robert Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences); River water supply to cities – Dr Eng. Klara Ramm (Horizon Europe Mission for Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters); Ecohydrology for increasing the sustainable development potential of large river systems – Prof. Maciej Zalewski (European Regional Center for Ecohydrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences).
