Artur Gała, a student of the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology, received the BB Student Award in the “Hospice – Home for terminally ill” competition. It was organized by the Bee Breeders platform and its aim was to develop an innovative concept in design in healthcare.
The assumption of the project was to create a place where terminally ill people could find relief, regenerate and receive support in any form.
The building was created in accordance with the principles of biophilic design, i.e. connecting people with nature. The main part containing the hospice rooms has been enclosed in a glass structure, which guarantees acoustic comfort and the possibility of communing with nature all year round, regardless of the weather. The interiors are dominated by natural materials which, together with a large number of plants, bring the users of the building closer to nature.
