The scientific consortium of the Department of Recombinant Vaccines of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the pharmaceutical company Adamed, obtained funding from the Medical Research Agency under the program “Development of innovative therapeutic solutions using RNA technology”.

The scientific goal of the consortium is to advance recombinant mRNA and virus-like particles based recombinant antiviral vaccines to the clinical stage. The subjects of the research will be vaccine preparations directed against viral zoonoses, mainly caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, tick-borne encephalitis virus and West Nile virus.

The total budget of the project is PLN 88 million, the funding from the Medical Research Agency is PLN 58.5 million, including PLN 11.5 million for the University of Gdańsk.
