Thanks to an agreement signed by the University of Haifa and the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) at the request of the Ministry of Education and Science with the support of the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv, the University of Haifa has launched the Interdisciplinary Center for Polish Studies (IOSP).     

For Poland, the University of Haifa with a campus on Mount Carmel is a university of particular importance because Szewach Weiss, Israel’s ambassador to Warsaw for many years, was one of the lecturers.

The Israeli university will carry out research programs including the Polish language, history and culture. Students and researchers from Israel will have the opportunity to obtain funding for research covering issues related to contemporary Polish culture and language. Additionally, IOSP will organize events for the general public to promote the history, heritage and contemporary Polish science.
