The Lodz University of Technology is the only university in Poland to become a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU).
ECIU was established in 1997. It is one of the consortia financed by the European Union. Its goal is to develop innovative solutions in teaching and scientific development, cooperation in research projects and exchange of employees and students, as well as supporting economic and social development.
It currently includes 13 universities: Aalborg Universitet (Denmark), Dublin City University (Ireland), Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (Germany), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (France) , Kauno technologijos universitetas (Lithuania), Linköpings Universitet (Sweden), Tampereen yliopisto (Finalandia), Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Universitetet Stavanger (Norway), Universiteit Twente (Netherlands), Università degli Studi di Trento (Italy).
