The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Medical University of Silesia in Sosnowiec joins the new part of the Bee Path project. The initiator of the project is the city hall of Ljubljana (Slovenia) that launched a series of activities aimed at creating a bee-friendly urban environment and encouraging the creation of urban apiaries.
Intensive urbanization, economic development, increasing air pollution, loss of natural resources and a decline in biodiversity, along with the widespread use of pesticides and insecticides, have led to a dramatic decline in the number of bees.
The aim of the BeePathNet project is to disseminate knowledge about urban beekeeping in another four European Union cities – Banske in Bulgaria, Bergamo in Italy, Osijek in Croatia and Sosnowiec in Poland, which understand the need to protect the natural environment and would like to create a pollinating insect-friendly environment.
