Prof. Michał Bogdziewicz from the Faculty of Biology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań has won a prize from the National Science Centre (NCN) in the field of life sciences. The scientist deals with forest ecology, the biology of seed years in which trees produce an exceptionally high number of seeds and the impact of climate change on tree reproduction.

Despite his short career in science (he received his PhD in 2017 and his habilitation in 2020), Prof Bogdziewicz is a world-class scientist. He has published dozens of articles in top scientific journals (e.g. PNAS, Nature Plants, Current Biology, Ecology Letters).

The NCN Prize is the most prestigious scientific award granted to researchers under 40 years of age and working in Poland. It is awarded in the areas of humanities, social sciences and arts, science and technology and life sciences. The basic criteria of the committee assessing candidates are scientific excellence and international recognition of their achievements.
