The increase in the minimum basic salary of university professors from PLN 5390 to PLN 6410 gross is assumed by a draft regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 5 July 2018.

PLN 6410 is the minimum amount. Actual earnings will depend on the particular university. The increases are planned not only for professors working at public universities but the remuneration of all academic teachers will be calculated according to new rate. Their salary cannot be lower than 50 percent of professor’s remuneration. The university professor is to earn at least 83 percent, and the assistant professor will earn 73 percent of professor’s salary.
Currently, approximately 10,000 academic professors are employed in Poland. The remaining academic teachers are around 88,000. The regulation is to enter into force on October 1, 2018.
