Aging processes only in 25 percent depend on genes. Lifestyle plays the major role – stated participants of the third National Dietary Congress in Warsaw.
Experts from the Institute of Food and Nutrition presented the Pyramid of Healthy Nutrition and Physical Activity modified for seniors, and prepared in this scientific and research institution. At an advanced age, health can be maintained thanks to proper nutrition and physical activity as well as quick detection of threats resulting from diseases or limited efficiency of the organism.
There are 6 million people in Poland over the age of 65 in Poland now and in 20 years there will be 9 million. Poles live longer due to changing eating habits – they eat much more vegetable fats, fruit and vegetables. (Kp)
