Construction of a planetarium equipped with the most modern projection and sounding devices and with a multimedia educational center will be an ideal space for popularizing knowledge and organizing cultural events- plans the Astronomical Institute of the University of Wroclaw.

The authorities of the Wrocław university have already handed over the initial estimates of investment costs to the authorities of the Provincial Parliament. University of Wrocław will provide the area as its own contribution. The cost of building a planetarium amounts to several million PLN (with a large astronomical education center it can amount to PLN 8 million).

The idea of ​​creating a modern, large planetarium in Wrocław promoting not only astronomy, appeared already in the 1970s. In 2004, the mayor of Wroclaw signed the letter of intent, but no funds were found for the implementation of the project.

In December last year, the main assumptions of the planetarium construction project were presented during the meeting of the Culture, Science and Education Committee of the Provincial Parliament and will be soon discussed by whole Provincial Parliament.
