According to analyses carried out for the Academic Consortium – Katowice City of Science, functional consolidation is the most appropriate form of cooperation, allowing to use the full potential of Silesian universities.

The consortium with the participation of the Music, Fine Arts and Physical Education Academies and Silesian, Economic and Medical Universities and the Silesian University of Technology was established to best prepare the capital of Upper Silesia to play the role of the European City of Science in 2024 and to organise the EuroScience Open Forum. 

According to the report prepared, the most appropriate form of cooperation, allowing the full potential of all partners to be used, is functional consolidation. It can contribute to increasing the quality of research activities, strengthening the attractiveness of the teaching offer, increasing the impact on the socio-economic environment and potentially improving economic efficiency.
