Jagiellonian University researchers join Academia Europaea

Prof. Wojciech Czakon from the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow and Prof. Marek Sanak from the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University (UJ CM) have become members of Academia Europaea. 

Academia Europaea was founded in 1988 on the initiative of the British Royal Society, the world’s oldest scientific society, and the Swedish Academy of Sciences. It invites scientists of outstanding merit to join its ranks and currently brings together more than 5 000 specialists in medicine, chemistry, physics, mathematics, economics, humanities and social sciences, including more than 70 Nobel Prize winners. This group includes more than 100 Poles. 

Wojciech Czakon is a professor of economic sciences. He created the Department of Strategic Management at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University. Previously, he was associated with the University of Economics in Katowice. 

Marek Sanak is a paediatrician and clinical geneticist, professor of medical sciences. He is a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Polish Academy of Sciences. He heads the Department of Molecular Biology and Clinical Genetics at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine of the Jagiellonian University CM.
